Behind Kabula
Building the strategic marketing operating layer and systems architecture that empowers modern business growth.
Why Kabula Exists
Born out of hundreds of front-line interactions with small businesses and visionary builders across emerging and global markets.
The Kabula Promise
Enable, then sustain. Robust systems without lock-ins.
Kabula wasn't born in a boardroom. It was born in countless conversations with entrepreneurs and small business owners, the same conversation, over and over, just with a different face across the table.
They weren't short of effort. They were short of clarity. They didn't know which agency to trust, how to brief one properly, how to tell if their marketing spend was actually working, or how any of it connected back to the growth they were trying to build.
"That gap, between wanting to market well and actually being set up to do it, is what Kabula was built to close."
Not by adding another layer of activity, but by giving small businesses and side hustlers the same marketing foundation major brands take for granted: a proper setup, best-practice thinking, and a network of specialists who keep it running once it's live.
Enable, Then Sustain
Kabula builds the infrastructure. Our network of vetted specialists grows it from there.

Joël Maniaki
Founder & Marketing Systems Architect
Designated Professional by the Marketing Association of South Africa (MASA) with MPSA status.
Who's Behind It
Kabula is led by Joël Maniaki, a marketing architect with a decade spent inside major brands across Southern Africa, East Africa, Central Africa, West Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
That work spanned nearly every marketing touchpoint there is: building brand assets, hosting events, graduations and webinars, writing tender applications and presentations, running paid media, optimising for SEO, and shaping the copy and content that sits behind all of it. Working across insurance, banking, retail, fintech, higher education and enterprise AI technology meant seeing what actually moves the needle for a business, and just as importantly, seeing where even well-resourced brands got it wrong.
That exposure to martech and technology along the way turned a generalist skill set into something more specific: what's often called a full-stack marketer, or a marketing systems architect. Someone who can move between strategy and execution without losing the thread between them.
◆ The Systems Engineering Mindset
It started earlier than marketing, though. Joël initially studied electrical engineering, right up until the practical component of the degree began. That's when he pivoted. But the engineering mindset never really left. He still describes himself as "a systems engineer hiding in a marketer's body," and it shows in how Kabula approaches every engagement: not as a series of one-off deliverables, but as a system.
A system for the handoff between marketing and other business units when a business needs more than one function moving in the same direction. That approach has earned recognition from the Marketing Association of South Africa, where Joël holds MPSA status.
What Kabula Brings You
Kabula takes the learnings from what worked and what didn't, including the why behind both, and puts that wisdom into practice for small businesses, without the overhead of a full in-house team. (A full in-house team still has its place. It's just usually a conversation for later, once you're a lot bigger.)
